Group Accent Modification Course

• Virtual via Zoom

• 2-hour sessions weekly for 12 weeks (Sept. 9-Dec. 5, 2025 - no sessions week of Oct. 20th)

• Covers most common sound errors in North American English (see curriculum below) 

• One specific speech sound targeted each week 

• Very comfortable and easy-going environment to learn and have fun 

• Two options to choose from each week:

  • Tuesdays 6:00pm - 8:00pm (Atlantic Time)  OR

  • Fridays 10:00am - 12:00pm (Atlantic Time)

Session Information and Requirements

• Working microphone and webcam are required (video must be ON for the majority of the session) 

• Use of a laptop or tablet is recommended, as it can be hard to see information and mouth movements on a phone screen

• Maximum 8 people per group to ensure lots of opportunities for everyone to practice and receive feedback

• These are interactive sessions that require participation

• Sessions will NOT be recorded, but practice materials will be provided

Booking Information

• Rate is $60 per session (sessions are 2 hours)

• Only book ONE session per week, as the same sound/goal is taught in both sessions each week (Tues. & Fri.) 

• Book using link below for as many of the weeks as you want 

  • For example, if you want to participate in all 12 weeks of sessions, then you will use the booking link 12 times to pay and book the session times you want (remember to only book one session per week, either Tuesday OR Friday)​

• Sessions are first come first served (only 8 spots available in each session per week) 

• NOTE: A minimum of 4 participants are required to run the group session for 2 hours; If there are 3 or fewer participants in a particular session, then the session will be 1 hour instead of 2 hours 

• You must book and pay for the session at least one day before the scheduled session date

• CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellation/rescheduling a session must occur no less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled session time. The amount paid will then go towards a future session.  A refund is possible, but must be specifically requested and is subject to a 5% processing fee. If a session is cancelled/rescheduled less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled session time or in the case of a no-show, the full amount of the session will be retained as a cancellation/no-show fee.

Group sessions are often not covered by insurance, but a receipt will be provided following each session that may be submitted to your insurance, if your coverage allows. You must be located in Newfoundland & Labrador, Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia in order to submit a receipt to insurance.

Week 1 (Sept. 9 & 12): TH

Week 2 (Sept. 16 & 19): V, W

Week 3 (Sept. 23 & 26): /ʌ/ as in "but"

Week 4 (Sept. 30 & Oct. 3): /ɪ/ as in "bit"

Week 5 (Oct. 7 & 10): /æ/ as in "bat"

Week 6 (Oct. 14 & 17): /ɑ/ as in "bought"

NO SESSIONS DURING THE WEEK OF OCT. 20th 

Week 7 (Oct. 28 & 31): /ʊ/ as in "book"

Week 8 (Nov. 4 & 7): Diphthongs (double vowels) as in "coat" and "down" 

Week 9 (Nov. 11 & 14) : Dark L as in "fall"

Week 10 (Nov. 18 & 21): R

Week 11 (Nov. 25 & 28): SH, CH, ZH, J

Week 12 (Dec. 2 & 5): Devoiced final consonants as in "bag" vs. "back"

Additional sessions may be offered throughout the 12 weeks, such as make up sessions, question and answer sessions, or conversation practice, based on interest.
