FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS YOUR RATE?
At this time, the rate is $50 per 30-minute session or $90 per 50-minute session. If an assessment report is required, the rate is dependent on the type of assessment. Initial consultations are free and a great way to discuss your communication goals and concerns so we can determine together if Grow Your Voice is the right fit for you.
CAN I GET A SAME-DAY APPOINTMENT?
Same-day initial consultations are definitely a possibility. It depends when I receive your request and how many sessions I have booked that day. The best way to try and book a same-day consultation would be to call me.
Same-day therapy sessions can be more difficult because I need time to prepare materials to ensure the session is as successful and beneficial as possible. That being said, I have a flexible schedule and do my best to work with my clients' schedules.
DO YOU BILL INSURANCE?
I do not bill insurance companies directly. Many insurance coverage options through employers cover up to a certain monetary amount for private speech-language services. I can provide necessary documentation for you to send to your insurance company for reimbursement.
DO YOU OFFER EVENING OR WEEKEND SESSIONS?
I do! We will discuss your preferred days/times during your initial consultation. I do my best to work with your schedule.
DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO A CERTAIN NUMBER OF SESSIONS?
No, there is no set amount of sessions you must pay for/attend; however, speech-language pathology is a therapeutic/rehabilitative service that typically requires multiple sessions with relative frequency to make gains toward your goal. Everyone's needs are different and I am here to accommodate that. Some clients I see multiple times per week, while others I see once a month or less. You are not contracted to a certain number of sessions, but be prepared that attending only one or two sessions will likely not give you the results you are looking for. Speech-language therapy is a journey, not a sprint.
MY CHILD WILL NOT ATTEND TO A COMPUTER SCREEN. WILL VIRTUAL SESSIONS BE BENEFICIAL?
Some children, especially young children, may not be very engaged with computer screens/technology. Virtual speech-language services can still be beneficial for these children. I have lots of tips and tricks up my sleeve of ways to get them to engage with me over a screen. I also provide parent coaching where I am more of an observer as the parent plays/interacts with the child under my direction. I teach YOU how to be your child's own personal speech therapist so you can help them reach their goals faster in their comfortable home environment.
DO I HAVE TO BE PRESENT FOR MY CHILD'S SESSION?
This is highly dependent on the child's age and compliance with interacting with me over the screen. Generally, children 5 years old and younger should have a parent/guardian present at all times because I may need you to help redirect them to the therapy tasks and/or participate in activities on your end to keep the child motivated. In addition, I want parents/guardians to see what is being targeted in therapy sessions and how I am targeting the goals so you know how to practice at home to increase your child's chances of reaching their speech-language goals more quickly and successfully. School-age children may not need a parent/guardian to be present during the sessions, but I require an adult to be relatively close by in case of unforeseen circumstances such as technical difficulties.
MYSELF/MY CHILD CURRENTLY RECEIVES SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPY THROUGH A HEALTH AUTHORITY/SCHOOL. ARE PRIVATE SPEECH-LANGUAGE THERAPY SESSIONS POSSIBLE OR NECESSARY?
Private speech-language therapy services are a great way to supplement the treatment received by public speech-language services. Sometimes the services available publicly are not able to provide as much support as a client needs/desires. Long wait times for these services can also mean that you/your child is not receiving services as quickly as you want. Grow Your Voice lets you take more control over the speech-language services you/your child receives.
If you/your child is seeing another speech-language pathologist, Grow Your Voice can potentially contact/collaborate with the SLP to improve continuity of services so that we are tackling the same goals using similar methods.
